How do I test the alarm to make sure it works?

The alarms on Decibel locks are very loud.
When testing your lock, never hold it near your ear. Make sure you have the keys on hand to disable the alarm.
Ear protection (plugs or muffs) may be desirable.

SL1000 Multi-Use Locks

Without inserting the cable into the lock hole, turn the key to the locked position. This will trigger the alarm.

SL3000 & SL4000 Heavy Duty Locks

These cables don't include a test function. The LED will blink red every 7-8 seconds when the alarm is armed and the batteries are healthy.

SL5001 U-Lock

Insert both ends of the shackle into the lock holes until you hear a beep. The LED will flash a few times.

Activate the motion sensor by pressing the Motion Sensor button. After 5 seconds, the motion sensor will arm. Now hit or vigorously shake the lock, triggering the motion sensor and alarm.

SL5101 Padlock

Insert the key and unlock the padlock. Rotate the shackle so it is just off to one side of the lock.
Push the shackle down, and the alarm should sound.
Pull the shackle upwards to stop the alarm.

SL7001 Portable Safe

Without inserting the cable into the lock hole, turn the key to the locked position. This will trigger the alarm.
